Cold is knocking at the door, Broccoli is a perfect dish to warm up a bit in the wintertime.
Broccoli, besides being really good and versatile in the kitchen, only steamed or with pasta or in a savoury pie or like this recipe, as cream with shrimps.
These are precious foods with extraordinary curative powers, they work against cholesterol, rich in mineral salts such as calcium, phosphorus and potassium. They also contain vitamin C, vitamin B1 and B2, dietary fibre (in the case of constipation) and sulphorphan, a substance that prevents the growth of carcinogenic cells! Thus I have to say that if I first loved them, now I can not live without them!

For broccoli cream:
Cut the stalk. Now cut the broccoli florets and wash them.
Heat a pot of salted water and start boiling dripping florets. Cook them for about 10 mins, until they become soft.
Heat a frying-pan with EVOO oil, garlic clove, anchovy and a pinch of dried chilli pepper.
Drain broccoli florets with a skimmer but do not throw the cooking water.
Add broccoli into the frying-pan, cook for 5 mins, adding a ladle full of cooking water. Remove garlic, put them in a blender and mix; adding again a bit of cooking water if necessary. You have to get a soft and uniform cream. Now pour the cream in the frying pan and warm it to low flame.
And now the shrimps:
Heat another frying-pan (or a griddle), add a tablespoon of EVOO oiland the garlic clove, add the shelled shrimps private of their gut (that black thread inside, use a toothpick).
Shrimps cook quickly. Add them to the frying-pan avoiding to overlapping them. Cook them for a couple of mins on each side.
Pour the broccoli cream into a plate, add shrimps, a drizzle of oil and a pinch of black ground pepper and serve!
