The Apulia taralli History

He was still a child when Nunzio Margiotta learned the secrets of “The Arte Bianca” helping is Mother Sabina, remained widow at a very young age, in the preparation of bread, taralli and traditional sweets which, were then sold in the neighbourhood to support the family. After finishing his studies, Nunzio start a thriving business of distributing bakery products, marketed under the trademark of :“I TESORI DI CANUSIUM”, with enough experience gained, encouraged by the business results, along with the support of his four children, Pantaleo, Domenico, Hilary and Gianmaria, in 2003 he achieved the dream of his life: he opens a small artisan taralli factory capable of productive performances equal to an industrial complex. The Margiotta family sets the stage for an ambitious and visionary project, which is; delight the palates of a discerning consumers with the “True Artisan Taralli Pugliesi” in observance of the ancient and rigid discipline handed down by tradition. As a matter of fact, with a market offering more and more mediocre and machines made products sold as “artisanal”, TESORI DI CANUSIUM opposes his vision of a natural and healthy hand made product that keeps receiving lots of success allowing the company to constantly employ new staff to keep up with production.

Only prime and carefully selected ingredients, exclusively of Italian origin, using traditional recipes, the taralli are twisted one by one by expert hands to confer the classic characteristic ring shape we all love. Tradition also requires the product to be first boiled, and then cocked in the oven for about 30 minutes to allow the taralli to be fragrant and crispy.
